Growing up in a rich culturally diverse community in Philadelphia, Anne's childhood was painted in rich color, scent, taste and sound drawn from celebrations, traditions and languages of her neighborhood family. Anne's parents have also been a great influence in her life. "My mother's ability to create beauty from nothing in our small home was a constant inspiration. My father's love of Bucks County, Pennsylvania's countryside and our weekend sojourns broadened my city life experience and helped me discover my appreciation for the colors and textures of nature."
Anne's involvement in the Arts has been a life-long study and expression. "The expression shifts and changes with the seasons of life, but the constant remains the same....creating beauty through self expression." Additionally, Anne attributes the study and practice of yoga to greatly influencing her life.
Today, Anne's work is the culmination of her passion for cultural richness, antiquity, texture and color. The pillow collection includes hand-embroidery and hand-weaving from many cultures. "When
looking at a Turkish hand-embroidery, I think about the love and care that went into each small detail, perhaps to be cherished and placed in a dowry for a young bride. "More frequently,
it was a woman"s hand who left her lasting touch with us today."
In her continuing exploration of culture and art, Anne will be adding a collection of original designs. Influenced by the primitive beauty of exotic cultures, the hand printed designs will be printed on organic linen and hemp and adorned with hand-dyed yarns. |
